Nabil Fahmy Discusses Advancing Arab Digital Transformation to Keep Pace With AI Era
Nabil Fahmy, Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, recently met with leaders of the Arab Federation for Digital Economy to discuss the future of the Arab economy in light of rapid transformations driven by artificial intelligence and modern technologies. The meeting took place at the League’s headquarters in Cairo.
Fahmy explored the challenges and opportunities facing Arab economies, emphasizing the need for joint action among Arab countries to leverage technology and foster growth. Key topics included:
- Developing effective models for joint Arab action across vision, policy, projects, investment, and international partnerships.
- Translating identified needs into practical initiatives.
- Leveraging the Arab Digital Economy Vision launched with support from the United Arab Emirates, which outlines strategic directions to build an Arab economy better equipped for digital transformation.
- Utilizing the Arab Digital Economy Index, developed by the Federation, to measure performance, identify gaps, and provide a knowledge base for policy direction.
The presentation also covered various projects initiated by the Federation, such as:
- Arab Food Market: A platform for agricultural trade, value chains, and food security.
- Mahaseel Project: Focused on digital education and training to develop skills aligned with labor market needs and the new economy.
- Madar – Arab Platform for Digital Projects: Aiming to showcase investment opportunities and connect them with potential investors and institutions.
These initiatives aim to attract capital, technology, and global attention to advance the Arab world’s digital transformation.
