DERA ISMAIL KHAN, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 27th Aug, 2026)
The district administration has recommended strict departmental action against officials and staff of the District Headquarters Hospital and Trauma Centre after a surprise late-night inspection revealed serious lapses in medical, administrative, cleanliness, and fire-safety arrangements.
Inspection Findings:
- Pediatric Ward: No doctor was present on duty, and the ward was found in poor hygienic condition, with absent sanitation staff.
- Fire Safety: The fire-alert system was non-functional, and staff preparedness for fire emergencies was inadequate.
- Administrative Presence: No Deputy Medical Superintendent or other administrative officer was present at the DHQ Hospital during the inspection.
- Medicine Availability: Complaints regarding the non-availability of medicines at the Trauma Centre were verified, leading to recommendations for strict action against the responsible official.
Dr Muhammad Hamid Siddiq, Assistant Commissioner, expressed serious concern over these issues, stating that:
"The negligence by government hospital staff and poor arrangements… would not be tolerated, adding that officials found guilty of dereliction of duty would face legal action."
