Nepal Flood Missing Toll Rises To 6,150
Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA) reported on Wednesday that the number of missing persons following floods that hit a region along the Nepal-China border in late August has risen to 6,150. This is an increase of nearly 1,000 from the previous day's count of 5,179.
The authority attributed this rise to an update and verification of data. They also stated that 1,403 bodies have been recovered, with 105 successfully identified. The floods and landslides predominantly affected Rasuwa, a northern Nepalese region bordering China, resulting in substantial loss of life and widespread damage to infrastructure.
Authorities are continuing search and rescue operations while meticulously updating and verifying missing-person data from the impacted areas.
