Nine Drugs Found in Samples of Two Township Women, Deaths Due to Combined Toxicity: IGP
Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Abdul Kareem said on Tuesday that the final forensic report had confirmed the presence of nine different types of drugs in samples of two women who died in Lahore’s Township area, while a Medical board concluded that both died due to combined drug toxicity.
Addressing a press conference at the Central Police Office Lahore, the IGP stated that a transparent investigation had been conducted into the deaths, adding that the Medical Board found no evidence of physical violence, external injuries, or wounds. He further mentioned that a magisterial inquiry conducted under Section 176 of the Code of Criminal Procedure also revealed no evidence of police torture.
According to the Medical Board, both women died due to cardiopulmonary arrest caused by combined drug toxicity. The preliminary medical examination indicated multiple injection marks on their arms, consistent with repeated injection use.
The IGP explained that the Punjab Forensic Science Authority (PFSA) collected necessary samples, and its final report confirmed the presence of nine different drugs in both women’s samples.
He added that complete CCTV footage of the incident had been reviewed, and statements of police officials and witnesses had been recorded. The women were brought to Township Police Station following an emergency call, leading to the immediate registration of FIR No. 1476/26 under Sections 379/420 PPC upon receipt of a written complaint.
The IGP noted that the CCTV footage showed the women’s clothes appeared torn even before they were taken into police custody.
He further revealed that both women had previous records in multiple cheating and fraud cases, with cases registered against them in Lahore and Gujrat.
Regarding the Ghaziabad rape case, the IGP stated that police had acted swiftly, arresting the suspect. He detailed the subsequent steps taken, including the medico-legal examination, potency test, forensic sampling, and DNA examination. CCTV footage from all cameras at Ghaziabad Police Station, including the front desk, was secured, and statements from the victim, complainant, relatives, and other relevant individuals were recorded. Site plans were prepared, the suspect’s motorcycle was seized, and the movements of both the suspect and victim were analyzed at various times. Safe City and local CCTV relevant to the investigation were also accessed.
