NLPD ED Earns Distinction as Five Textbooks Enter Curriculum
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – September 1, 2026) Renowned Iqbaliat scholar, writer, and educationist, Dr. Rashid Hameed, has achieved a significant milestone in his career as five of his textbooks are now part of the formal curriculum in Pakistan.
Textbooks Published Under Punjab Textbook Board
These textbooks, authored by Dr. Hameed, include Urdu and English translations of Pakistan Studies texts for matriculation and intermediate classes. This addition brings the total number of his textbooks in the curriculum to five.
A Journey in Education and Literature
Dr. Rashid Hameed began his teaching career as a History teacher at Government College Murree and Taxila nearly two decades ago. Simultaneously, he served as the editor of the literary page for daily Nawa-i-Waqt. Over the years, he held pivotal positions at various national institutions, such as the Muqtadra Qaumi Zaban, Pakistan Academy of Letters, Urdu Science Board, and Urdu Dictionary Board.
A Significant Contribution
His History textbook for Grade 8 was the first to be published in 2022, both in English and Urdu. In 2026, his Urdu textbooks on Pakistan Studies for Grades 10 and 12, along with their English translations, were released. This recognition highlights his academic and research contributions.
Dr. Hameed also served as a member of the Higher Education Commission’s curriculum development committee for Master of Science and Master of Philosophy Urdu programs.
