No Governor’s Rule in KP, Emergency Option Under Consideration: Tariq Fazal Chaudhry

Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Tariq Fazal Chaudhry has stated that Governor's Rule will not be imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, contrary to some reports. Instead, the option of declaring an emergency is being considered. He emphasized that no final decision has been made, but if an emergency is declared, the provincial assembly will remain functional, and a federal representative—potentially the governor—will serve as the province's chief executive.

In an interview on Hum News, Chaudhry addressed the deteriorating law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, questioning how lives can be protected under the current circumstances. He argued that an emergency would not dissolve the assembly and that the federal government will appoint the chief executive.

Chaudhry also challenged Imran Khan's commitment to the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, stating that no efforts have been made to address their concerns. He expressed frustration with the provincial government's reluctance to maintain law and order, hindering federal initiatives.

According to Chaudhry, an emergency could be declared by the President of Pakistan under circumstances of external aggression or internal disorder.

He reiterated that while Governor’s Rule is not being imposed, the emergency option remains on the table. The final decision, he said, will be made shortly, and in the event of an emergency, the provincial assembly will remain intact.

Shaukat Ali Yousafzai, a PTI leader, acknowledged the federal government's recent attention to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa's situation, particularly after the PTI announced a long march. However, he criticized the Prime Minister's absence from Pakistan for 10 days while personnel and police officers make sacrifices in the province.
