No Military Action Being Considered Over Houthi Attacks in Saudi Arabia Under Makkah Defence Pact

Pakistan is not currently contemplating any military response under the Makkah Defence Pact to Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, according to a Foreign Office spokesperson. They added that the agreement will take time to implement, emphasizing its purely defensive nature while Pakistan continues to support Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
Bilateral defence cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia remains strong, with the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement in force. The spokesperson, Sajjad Haider Khan, clarified during a weekly press briefing that Pakistan will fulfil its role as per the agreement’s requirements.
He ruled out any current discussions regarding expanding the pact, stating that the three founding countries—Pakistan, Türkiye, and Saudi Arabia—are still finalising its details.
Khan also addressed rumours of Pakistan’s trade agreements with Iran, stating that any decisions will be made in the country’s national interest. He dismissed a Reuters report suggesting Pakistan had warned Iran as baseless.
