NUML Commemorates Defence and Martyrs Day with Seminar on National Unity and Youth Responsibilities

NUML organized a seminar to commemorate Defence and Martyrs Day, highlighting the sacrifices of Pakistan’s forces and emphasizing the role of national unity and the younger generation in the country’s progress and development.

Distinguished Urdu poet, writer, literary critic, and educationist Professor Jalil Aali and Dr Arshad Mehmood Nashad, Head of the Urdu Department at Allama Iqbal Open University, were the guest speakers. Rector NUML Maj Gen Shahid Mehmood Kayani, HI(M) (Retd), DG NUML, Brig Muhammad Rafiq Khan along with Deans, Directors, faculty members, and a large number of students attended the seminar.

Addressing the gathering, Prof Dr Arshad Mehmood Nashad stated that Pakistan is the outcome of a long struggle and countless sacrifices by our forefathers. He acknowledged the nation’s challenges but expressed confidence in overcoming them through unity, perseverance, adherence to ancestral values, and divine blessings. He emphasized preserving the country’s national identity, remembering its heroes, and safeguarding its cultural and historical heritage.

Professor Jalil Aali, in his address, underscored the significance of Pakistan’s historic journey and sacrifices that shaped the nation. He highlighted the central role of youth in determining the country’s future and called upon them to remain connected with their national identity, uphold unity, responsibility, and patriotism, and contribute positively through knowledge, character, and constructive action.

Rector NUML Maj Gen Shahid Mehmood Kayani, HI(M) (Retd), stressed the vital role of youth in a country’s development and progress. He assured that while challenges exist, the spirit of sacrifice and devotion to the motherland remains unshaken. Addressing students, he stated they are Pakistan’s future and carry the responsibility of contributing to its progress. Expressing confidence in the nation’s continued endurance and prosperity, he urged youth not to lose hope or despair.

A documentary showcasing the sacrifices and services of Pakistan’s forces was screened during the seminar, paying tribute to the martyrs and reinforcing messages of courage, resilience, patriotism, and national unity.

At the conclusion, souvenirs were presented to the distinguished guest speakers as a token of appreciation, followed by a group photograph.
