One Day Awareness Session on WASH Issues Held in Mardan

PESHAWAR, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – September 11, 2026) A one-day awareness session on Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) issues and policy changes was held in Mardan, in collaboration with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chapter of Fresh Water Action Network South Asia-Pakistan and under the auspices of the Integrated Regional Support Programme (IRSP).

Session Objectives

The session aimed to:

  • Raise awareness about emerging WASH issues and policy changes.
  • Encourage stakeholders to promote collaborative action through consultation and coordination.

Participation

A large number of men, women, students, social workers, and members of women and youth networks participated.

Key Discussions

Speakers discussed:

  • Challenges facing the WASH sector.
  • The importance of improved sanitation facilities.
  • Promotion of hygiene and public health.

IRSP Executive Director Shah Nasir, Muhammad Ismail, and Nosheen Sardar emphasized that:

  • Participation of all segments is essential for sustainable solutions.
  • Women and youth play crucial roles in policymaking and practical initiatives.
