An Oregon teacher bravely threw her mobile phone to stop a teen suspect who opened fire in a special educational needs class, tackling him and trying to wrest away his shotgun.

As they struggled on the floor—where three children and a teacher were tragically killed—a bystander, a father of two girls at the school, entered with a .40-caliber pistol and shot the suspect multiple times, stopping the attack.

Police reveal details

The details of the Thursday attack were confirmed by police, who identified the suspect as 16-year-old Griffin J. John II, a former student at the school. He was armed with approximately 44 rounds of shotgun ammunition.

Heroic Actions Saved Lives

"To the people who showed courage in the face of such violence, and intervened to prevent this tragedy from being any worse, we owe you a debt of gratitude," said Bend Police Chief Mike Krantz.

Two victims have been identified: Rhoam Summer, a five-year-old, and Meghan Lambert, a 25-year-old teacher. Two other students, aged eight and 11, and another teacher, 54, were injured.

Search for Motive and Suspect's Movements

Police are still investigating the suspect's movements and the exact circumstances that led him to the school. A motive is also not yet clear. A search warrant has been executed at the suspect's home.

Identified Intervening Father

The father who rushed into the school and shot the suspect has been identified as Kaylub Giamanco, a 36-year-old carpenter, by his family. They told US media that he saw the suspect open fire outside the school and then go inside.

Giamanco had a legally concealed .40-caliber pistol in his vehicle, and when he saw the suspect, he decided to enter and confront him, firing "multiple times" to end the attack.
