Over 100 Girls Participate in Hockey Activities Marking Defence Day in Mirpurkhas

Girls’ hockey activities and competitions were organized in Mirpurkhas on Wednesday by the Department of Sports and Youth Affairs as part of Defence Day celebrations, with more than 100 female players participating enthusiastically.
The activities were held under the supervision of Lahore-based hockey coach Areeba and Jacobabad-based coach Iram Baloch, who provided the participating girls with training and briefed them on basic rules, skills and techniques of the game. A two-day hockey series was also organized between Dreamers academy Mirpurkhas and the Jacobabad Female Hockey Team, with players from both sides demonstrating impressive skills and competitive performances.
At the closing ceremony, District Sports Officer Wasdev Malhi welcomed the guests, including Assistant Director Environment Shahid Tahir, SDO Hamad Gujjar, SDO Jhudo Inamullah, PS to Deputy Commissioner M. Usman Jhanjhi, Ismail Memon, social worker Muhammad Bakhsh Kapri, Shah Mardan Mari and Altaf Soomro. Officials and representatives of various sports organizations also attended the ceremony.
Trophies and cash prizes were distributed among the winning teams at the conclusion of the event, while players were appreciated for their performances. The speakers welcomed the organization of the girls’ hockey activities and the two-day series, stating that such sporting events provide young athletes, particularly girls, with opportunities to develop their abilities, build confidence and excel in sports.
