Pakistan and China Celebrate 75 Years of Friendship with Joint Music Concert on Great Wall

Pakistan and China celebrated 75 years of diplomatic relations with a spectacular cultural evening at Beijing’s iconic Badaling Great Wall. The 2026 Beijing Great Wall Concert, titled "An Ode to Ironclad Friendship," brought together music, dance, and artistic traditions from both nations.

Organized by the Embassy of Pakistan in Beijing and the China International Cultural Communication Center (CICCC), the event transformed a historic site into a stage showcasing the enduring friendship between the two countries.

Highlights:

  • Performances by renowned artists from both Pakistan and China, including Nighat Chaudhry (Pride of Performance Award-winning Kathak exponent), Zhang Jingdi (Chinese dance artist), Zain Zohaib (acclaimed contemporary Qawwali artist), Chang Sisi (renowned Chinese coloratura soprano), and Xu Ziyao (new-generation vocalist).
  • Fusion of music and dance, conveying a powerful message of friendship and celebrating the strong bonds between Pakistan and China.
  • The Ambassador of Pakistan to China, Khalil Hashmi, welcomed guests, emphasizing the special connection between the Great Wall and the friendship between the peoples.
  • He highlighted Pakistan’s contribution to restoring a section of the Great Wall at Badaling in 1989 as a symbol of respect for Chinese civilization.

Quote from Ambassador Hashmi:

"Music gives voice to emotion, while dance gives it form and movement," said Ambassador Hashmi, underscoring the transformative power of the arts.*

The event was attended by a diverse group, including Chinese people, members of the Pakistani community, and former Pakistani Foreign Secretaries and Ambassadors.
