Pakistan Considers Airstrikes Against Houthis in Yemen at Saudi Request

Pakistan is considering airstrikes against Houthi forces in Yemen at Saudi Arabia’s request. Pakistani sources told Türkiye Today that the strikes could be carried out soon, with an official announcement expected shortly afterward.
A Pakistani source said the potential military action would aim to eliminate the Houthis from Yemen’s Saada Province and other areas. However, no final decision has yet been made on launching attacks against the Houthis in Yemen.
This development comes amid mounting pressure from Houthi rebels against Saudi Arabia, the world’s largest oil-exporting country. After a ceasefire between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis ended in July, the Houthis conducted several attacks on Saudi oil infrastructure and tankers. They also announced a maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia and began targeting Saudi vessels, further affecting the country’s oil exports.
Saudi exports were already facing difficulties due to Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
On Tuesday, the Houthis targeted several Saudi cities and energy facilities:
- Abha
- Jazan
- Najran
- Khamis Mushait
The attacks injured 73 people and disrupted operations at key energy facilities. In response, Saudi Arabia carried out airstrikes against the Houthis in Yemen on Tuesday. Houthi-affiliated media reported casualties in Al-Jawf as a result of the Saudi strikes, though Riyadh has not officially confirmed the attacks or their intensity.
The conflict between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis is entering an increasingly tense and uncertain phase. The key question now is whether Pakistan will undertake military action against the Houthis inside Yemen at Saudi Arabia’s request.
