Pakistan Defence Day: Embassy in Paris Pays Tribute to Martyrs and Veterans

Addressing a Defence Day ceremony in France, Ambassador Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that the Jammu and Kashmir dispute must be resolved under relevant UN Security Council resolutions to establish lasting peace in South Asia.
PARIS, ( UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 8th Sep, 2026 ) The Embassy of Pakistan in Paris hosted a special ceremony to mark Pakistan Defence and Martyrs’ Day, attended by Senator Allizard, members of the diplomatic corps, officers of the armed forces, and numerous friends of Pakistan.
In her address at the ceremony, Ambassador of Pakistan Mumtaz Zahra Baloch offered heartfelt tribute to the martyrs and veterans of the Pakistan Army and saluted their services and sacrifices for the country’s defence. Ambassador Baloch emphasised that Pakistan’s armed forces are the guarantors of national security and that the entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with its brave defenders.
Referring to Pakistan’s defence in 1965, she noted that Pakistan’s armed forces had also responded to Indian aggression in May of that year with resolve, sound strategy, and professional expertise. The ambassador highlighted Pakistan’s contributions to regional and global peace and stability, particularly lauding the role of Pakistani contingents in United Nations peacekeeping missions.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that over the past two decades, Pakistan’s national defence had not remained limited to the traditional battlefield, as the war against terrorism had also become a significant front. In this crucial war, Pakistan’s armed forces, law-enforcement personnel, and ordinary citizens had made immense and irreparable sacrifices.
She expressed Pakistan’s belief in promoting partnerships and strengthening international cooperation to achieve shared global objectives of peace, security, and development. The ambassador noted that Pakistan was playing a mediating role to extinguish the flames of war and reduce tensions in the region based on the principles of cooperation, dialogue, and adherence to international law.
Ambassador Baloch affirmed that Pakistan does not seek conflict but desires peaceful and mutually respectful relations with all neighbouring countries; however, there would be no compromise on national defence. She emphasised that to establish lasting peace in South Asia, the Jammu and Kashmir dispute should be resolved in accordance with relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council.
