Pakistan Red Crescent Hands Over Keys Of 26 Houses To Flood-hit Families In Chiniot
Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider has stated that the rehabilitation of individuals affected by natural calamities is a collective duty of the government, welfare organizations, and society.
Addressing a ceremony near Moza Sadeed Jani Shah on the outskirts of Chiniot on Tuesday, he praised the Pakistan Red Crescent for its exemplary humanitarian work and noted that 26 newly constructed houses were being handed over to flood-displaced families. Efforts are ongoing to provide permanent housing to more deserving families.
The ceremony was attended by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Central Punjab General Secretary Syed Hassan Murtaza, Mehboob Qadir Shah, Inayat Ali Shah, Pakistan Red Crescent Secretary Zikar Sahib, organization officials, local political and social figures, elected representatives, and a large number of flood-affected families.
Governor Haider appreciated Syed Hassan Murtaza‘s efforts in highlighting the issues of flood victims and requesting PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to facilitate the construction of at least 100 houses in the area. He noted that the handover of keys to 26 houses was a tangible outcome of these efforts.
He also paid tribute to Pakistan Red Crescent Chairman Mian Hanif, its Secretary, and the entire team for their humanitarian services.
Highlighting the organization’s relief operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, he mentioned that Red Crescent teams remained in affected areas for two months, providing food, tents, and other essentials. He stressed that the spirit of serving humanity is the true identity of the organization and urged governments and organizations with ample resources to focus on providing permanent shelter to the poor and homeless.
Referring to the PPP founder Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto‘s slogan of “Roti, Kapra aur Makan” (Food, Clothing and Housing), Governor Haider stated that the party has consistently prioritized the welfare of the poor, employment opportunities, and the provision of basic facilities.
Syed Hassan Murtaza, while speaking on the occasion, described the provision of dignified housing to flood victims as an essential humanitarian service and pledged to continue rehabilitation and welfare initiatives.
At the conclusion, the Governor, along with Murtaza and other guests, distributed keys to 26 flood-affected families, who expressed gratitude to the Pakistan Red Crescent, philanthropists, and all institutions involved in the housing project.
