Murree Brewery, Pakistan's renowned and historic beverage manufacturer, has resumed exporting alcoholic beverages abroad after nearly five decades, clearing a path for shipments to the United Kingdom, Japan, Portugal and Thailand.

In 2025, the Pakistani government lifted restrictions, allowing Murree Brewery to export to non-OIC countries for the first time since 1977. The company's export manager, Rameez Shah, confirmed shipments began in April of this year.

Murree Brewery, established during the British era in the 1860s, is one of Pakistan's oldest industrial companies. Its main production unit is located in Rawalpindi. The company aims to strengthen its global distribution network while gradually increasing export volumes.

This move comes as Pakistan seeks new sources of foreign exchange. The government's policy change allows Murree Brewery to tap into markets beyond its traditional reach.
