Paramount settles lawsuit with US states, helping clear way for $110bn merger with Warner Bros

Paramount Skydance Settles Lawsuit with US States, Clearing Path for $110bn Warner Bros Merger

BBC News - California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced that Paramount Skydance has settled a lawsuit with dozens of US states, removing a major hurdle to its proposed $110 billion merger with Warner Bros Discovery.

The settlement addresses concerns over competition across film and television, Bonta said, while also ensuring commitments are in place to protect it. Still, he emphasized, "the settlement is not a vote of support for this merger."

Paramount CEO David Ellison expressed enthusiasm about the agreement: "Our shared aim was an outcome that best serves consumers, workers and - most importantly - the creative community so vital to the art of visual storytelling."

Under the terms, Paramount must release at least 30 films annually.
