English singer-songwriter Paul Heaton has achieved his first solo UK number one album with Jenius, his sixth overall. His success was partly due to selling more vinyl copies than any other album in the past seven days.
In a four-star review, The Times praised Heaton’s latest work, stating that it "again confirms his gift for dissecting human weakness with an unsentimental but humane eye." The album is described as full of "stylistically playful songs" like "One Eye Open" and "Favourite Kind of Idiot".
Dolly Parton, who died earlier this week aged 80, also has three singles in the top 40, including ‘9 to 5’, which reached number 12. This marks a resurgence for the classic country pop tune, previously peaking at 47 in 1981.
Other notable chart movements include Sam Fender and Olivia Dean‘s "Rein Me In" extending its record as the longest-running number one single in UK chart history.
