ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 17th Sep, 2026) The Private Educational Institutions Regulatory Authority (PEIRA) on Thursday launched its “PEIRA Digital Services” initiative in Islamabad, aiming to digitize regulatory services for private schools, enhance transparency and efficiency, streamline paperwork, and facilitate citizens and educational institutions through online access to key services.
The launching ceremony was held at the auditorium of the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (FBISE), with Federal Minister for Education and Professional Training, Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, as the chief guest.
Senior government officials, educationists, representatives of private educational institutions, and other stakeholders attended the event.
Addressing the ceremony, the federal minister praised PEIRA for introducing comprehensive digital services, emphasizing that technology is a powerful tool for promoting transparency, accountability, and public trust in government institutions.
He noted that transparency is a cornerstone of good governance and democracy, and digital transformation can make regulatory processes more accessible, efficient, and citizen-friendly.
Dr Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui stressed that services like online registration and renewal, e-licensing, complaint redressal, attestation, and migration are essential components of a modern regulatory system, not merely optional facilities. He argued that citizens and educational institutions should be able to access these services conveniently, without bureaucratic hurdles, delays, and repeated visits to government offices.
PEIRA Chairman, Dr Ghulam Ali Mallah, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training for its continuous support, guidance, and encouragement for the Authority's reform and digital transformation agenda.
He stated, "The role of a modern regulator should not be limited to enforcement but should also involve facilitation of educational institutions while ensuring quality education, institutional accountability, and implementation of government policies."
Dr Mallah highlighted the significant contribution of private educational institutions in Islamabad, accounting for approximately 60% of the city's total student enrollment. Recognizing their role, he emphasized the importance of constructive engagement with private institutions, coupled with effective regulation and quality assurance, for strengthening Islamabad's education system.
He clarified that PEIRA's digital transformation is not merely a technological upgrade but a strategic institutional reform aimed at making regulatory services faster, simpler, more transparent, and more accessible.
