Electric Supply Company (PESCO) on Monday inaugurated the 132kV Rustam Grid Station, completed at a cost of Rs500 million to improve electricity supply and reduce technical problems in the area.

PESCO Board Chairman Himayatullah Khan and PESCO Chief Akhtar Hameed Khan formally inaugurated the grid station, while the board chairman also unveiled its commemorative plaque.

PESCO completed the project within two years and will transfer four feeders to the new grid station, including Rustam Bazaar, Malandri, Parmoli, and Sidham feeders. The company previously supplied electricity to these feeders from the Hassi Grid Station. Their transfer to the Rustam Grid will help address overloading, frequent tripping, and low-voltage problems.

PESCO stated that operation of the new grid station would reduce the load on the Hassi Grid by around 23 percent and help decrease load shedding in the area.

Speaking on the occasion, Himayatullah Khan said the new facility would improve electricity supply and provide relief to consumers in the area.

PESCO Chief Akhtar Hameed Khan said residents regularly paid their electricity bills and the company had established the grid station to provide them with better and more reliable power supply.
