Petroleum Levy Talks: Government Seeks One-Day Extension from Jamaat-e-Islami
The government has requested that the third round of talks be held on Tuesday instead of Monday, with Ahsan Iqbal conveying Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s message to Liaquat Baloch.
Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal contacted Jamaat-e-Islami Deputy Emir Liaquat Baloch by telephone and communicated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif‘s wish.
The Prime Minister expressed a desire for the third round of talks on the petroleum levy to be held on Tuesday instead of Monday. The initial schedule called for talks to commence on Monday.
Liaquat Baloch stated that discussions with the government regarding the petroleum levy would take place on Tuesday, while negotiations on the matter of independent power producers (IPPs) would occur on Wednesday.
