Petroleum Price Hike: Goods Transporters Announce 5% Fare Increase

Goods transporters’ president Malik Shehzad Awan warns of another nationwide strike if their demands are not addressed within the stipulated period.
LAHORE, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 8th Sep, 2026) Following an increase in petroleum product prices, goods transporters have announced a 5% increase in fares.
Malik Shehzad Awan strongly condemned the hike, stating that the daily fluctuation in petroleum product prices was unacceptable and urging the government to immediately withdraw the decision.
He explained that the nationwide strike had been postponed for 40 days due to the government’s assurances, but most of their demands remain unmet. Warning of further action, he stated that goods transporters would launch another nationwide strike if progress was not made on their demands within the stipulated period.
