PFA Discards 1,250kg Chinese Salt in Rawalpindi

RAWALPINDI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 10th Sep, 2026) The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has intensified its enforcement operations against adulterated and substandard food products in Rawalpindi, taking action against violators of food safety regulations.

During an inspection operation in the city, PFA officials discarded 1,250 kilograms of Chinese salt (MSG) after finding it unfit for consumption. Legal proceedings were also initiated against those responsible.

The authority said its enforcement teams were conducting regular inspections of food businesses across Rawalpindi to ensure compliance with food safety standards and protect consumers from hazardous and adulterated food products.

Officials warned food business operators to maintain proper hygiene, ensure the quality of raw materials, and strictly comply with the prescribed food safety regulations.

The PFA stated that indiscriminate action would be taken against businesses found involved in the preparation, storage, or sale of unsafe and substandard food items.

The authority also urged citizens to cooperate with its teams and report cases involving adulterated or unsafe food so that timely action could be taken.
