PHF Seeks Neutral Venue For Pakistan’s Matches in Asian Champions Trophy 2026
ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 16th Sep, 2026) Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) President, Mohyuddin Ahmed Wani, stated on Wednesday that the PHF has formally requested the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) to either relocate the Men’s Asian Champions Trophy 2026 or shift all of Pakistan’s matches to a neutral venue.
According to an official statement, the request was made considering the current sensitive bilateral situation and security concerns. The primary objective is to ensure a safe and conducive environment for Pakistan's national players and officials while maintaining the country’s commitment to international hockey.
"Pakistan remains fully committed to the Asian Champions Trophy and the global promotion of hockey," Wani emphasized. He further added that Pakistan is prepared to play against all FIH member nations, including India, and reiterated the federation's stance that sports should be separate from politics.
Wani expressed hope that the Asian Hockey Federation will consider their proposal for a neutral venue, ensuring Pakistan’s uninterrupted participation.
