PIMS Fire Incident: Talal Chaudhry Visits Hospital, Vows Action

Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry on Wednesday visited the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on the special instructions of Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi following a fire incident at the hospital.

During the visit, he reviewed the situation, received briefings from officials, and stated that a detailed rescue report had been submitted to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and the Prime Minister of Pakistan.

According to officials, the rescue operation at PIMS was completed, and the bodies of the children who lost their lives in the incident were handed over to their families. Authorities reported that rescue teams responded swiftly, beginning operations within six to seven minutes of arriving at the scene.

Talal Chaudhry emphasized that the rescue operation was conducted in a timely manner, with a primary focus on evacuating affected individuals and securing the area. He noted that all relevant administrative officers remained at the hospital until the operation concluded and continued to monitor the situation throughout the emergency response.

Expressing grief over the loss of lives, Chaudhry assured government accountability and promised strict action against any individuals found responsible for negligence related to the incident. He added that those involved would face punishment under the law upon the completion of the investigation.

Chaudhry revealed that authorities had initiated a comprehensive inquiry to determine the fire’s cause and identify those responsible. He observed that relevant departments were gathering evidence and reviewing every aspect of the incident.

Officials stated that the investigation’s findings would be shared with concerned authorities once the inquiry concluded. The government has directed relevant departments to fully cooperate with investigators and provide all necessary information.
