Plan to Make Islamabad an Autonomous Unit as New Local Tax Proposals Prepared

A new tax system is being proposed to collect and spend revenue exclusively on Islamabad’s infrastructure and public services, including:
- Government hospitals
- Schools and colleges
- Other educational institutions
- Welfare projects
- Civic administration expenses
According to Dunya news, reliable sources state that this new tax would fund:
- Improving Islamabad’s infrastructure
- Public services
The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and relevant institutions are currently preparing final tax estimates and recommendations, which will be presented to a subcommittee and then to a committee chaired by the Planning Minister. The Prime Minister and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will ultimately approve these recommendations.
