PM Directs Measures To Further Strengthen Modern Policing System

ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 8th Sep, 2026) Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday appreciated Islamabad Police for adopting modern technology, promoting green policing and taking measures for the protection of citizens. He directed that all necessary steps be taken to further strengthen and enhance the effectiveness of the modern policing system.

The prime minister spoke at a ceremony where 50 electric vehicles (EVs) were handed over to Islamabad Police, promoting modern, safe, and environment-friendly policing. The keys were presented to Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi and Inspector General of Islamabad Police Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi.

  • Minister Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry
  • Minister of State Talal Chaudhry
  • Other relevant officials

In his speech, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized that protection of citizens’ lives and property is the government’s top priority. He noted that the government is providing all available resources to Islamabad Police to modernize policing in line with contemporary needs.

He expressed appreciation for the performance of the interior minister in modernizing Islamabad Police, stating that the force should serve as a model for other cities across the country. He stressed the need for equipping Islamabad Police with modern technology, equipment, and other necessary resources to ensure a secure environment for citizens in the Federal capital.

The prime minister highlighted the provision of electric vehicles to Islamabad Police as a step towards promoting green policing. He believed that incorporating modern technology would further enhance police performance and services delivered to citizens.

During the ceremony, Inspector General of Islamabad Police provided the prime minister with a detailed briefing on the newly established "Capital Patrol" force, designed for the security of the federal capital.

The prime minister was informed that:

  • The Capital Patrol force comprises 200 police personnel organized into patrol units consisting of one male and one female officer, including motorcycle riders for rapid response.
  • All members of the Capital Patrol force are equipped with body cameras to enhance transparency, monitoring, and accountability in policing.
  • Fifty electric vehicles have been provided for the Capital Patrol force, contributing to cost savings and environmental benefits.

The prime minister was further informed that the use of these new electric vehicles will result in monthly savings while minimizing environmental impact.
