PM Directs Review Of Super Tax Exemption For Exporters
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 8th Sep, 2026) Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday directed relevant authorities to review the matter of extending the exemption from super tax for exporters while calling for immediate measures to resolve issues faced by the business community, while welcoming proposals for promoting export-led economic growth.
During a meeting with a delegation of prominent industrialists and business leaders at the Prime Minister’s House, he discussed measures to promote export-oriented economic growth. He appreciated the business leaders’ valuable contributions during the budget-making process, highlighting that several of their suggestions were incorporated into the federal budget.
The prime minister expressed his commitment to making the recently established Trade Facilitation board an effective institution for promoting trade and welcomed proposals from the business community to enhance its performance and scope. He also mentioned the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in providing a convenient platform for investors and businesses.
Shehbaz Sharif stated that efforts were underway to digitize the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), contributing to an increase in tax collection of Rs800 billion during the last financial year. He also emphasized significant improvements in the country’s macroeconomic conditions due to the economic team’s work, but acknowledged the need for further microeconomic progress to ensure widespread benefits.
The PM directed authorities to take prompt actions for resolving business community issues and review the extension of super tax exemption for exporters. During the meeting, the delegation was updated on government initiatives to improve the economy and promote business, trade, and industry.
They were informed about reduced port charges and enhanced operational capacity at Pakistan’s ports. Additionally, work is in progress to upgrade Motorway M-10 and the Pipri Freight Corridor to further boost logistics.
