PM Orders Immediate Suspension and Removal of Health Secretary
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 26th Aug, 2026) Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, on Wednesday, ordered the immediate suspension and removal from office of Federal Health Secretary Aslam Ghouri.
A high-level meeting chaired by the prime minister is currently underway to review the incident of deaths of newborn babies at PIMS Hospital, PM Office Media Wing said in a press release.
The prime minister expressed strong displeasure over the incident. He also constituted a high-level inquiry committee to investigate the deaths and determine responsibility.
Former interior secretary, Shahid Khan was appointed chairman of the inquiry committee, while Establishment Secretary Dr. Barrister Nabeel Awan would be among its other members.
Earlier, the prime minister had taken notice of the incident and directed an immediate inquiry.
