Police Claim Decline in Murder and Attempted Murder Incidents in Lahore
UrduPoint (September 20, 2026) – According to police crime records, there has been a notable decrease in murder and attempted murder incidents in Lahore during the first eight months of 2026 compared to the previous year.
In the City Division, the number of murder cases dropped from 37 to 28, while attempted murder incidents decreased from 82 to 54. The Cantt Division saw similar trends, with a reduction in murder cases from 44 to 45 and attempted murder from 131 to 94.
The other divisions also reported significant declines:
- Civil Lines Division: Murder incidents fell from 22 to 9, and attempted murder from 30 to 20.
- Sadar Division: Murder cases decreased from 47 to 42, and attempted murder from 79 to 60.
- Iqbal Town Division: Murder incidents reduced from 25 to 24, and attempted murder from 48 to 41.
- Model Town Division: Murder cases dropped from 52 to 46, and attempted murder from 90 to 62.
