President Calls For Stronger Pakistan-Malaysia Cooperation In Law Enforcement And Security

ISLAMABAD, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 22nd Aug, 2026) President Asif Ali Zardari, Sunday, called for further strengthening Pakistan-Malaysia cooperation in law enforcement, counterterrorism, narcotics control and combating human trafficking and migrant smuggling.
The president made this appeal during his meeting with Malaysia’s Minister for Home Affairs, Saifuddin Nasution bin Ismail, at Aiwan-e-Sadr, attended by Minister for Interior & Narcotics Control Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and President Secretariat Media Wing.
Welcoming the Malaysian Minister and his delegation, the president stated that Pakistan attaches great importance to its close and fraternal relations with Malaysia, built on shared faith, culture, mutual respect, and strong people-to-people ties.
He acknowledged the positive progress in strengthening institutional cooperation, particularly in internal security, immigration, and legal and judicial matters. The president emphasized that continued coordination between relevant institutions of both countries would facilitate citizen interaction and address mutual concerns.
Accompaning the visiting minister were High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan Mohammad Azhar Mazlan, Ibrahim Darus (Director of Special Branch, Royal Malaysia Police), and Hafidz Othman (Deputy Commissioner General Rehabilitation, Malaysian Prison Department).
Bilateral Trade was also discussed. The president stressed the need to explore greater market access in Malaysia for Pakistani products in demand there, including rice, potatoes, wheat, poultry, and animal feed.
The visiting Minister informed the president that 2026 marks 69 years of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Malaysia, established in 1957 after Malaysia’s independence. He also shared that 14 flights per week currently connect various cities of Pakistan with Malaysia, with efforts underway to further increase flight frequency.
The president expressed confidence that the visit would strengthen institutional ties and deepen the longstanding and multifaceted relationship between Pakistan and Malaysia.
