Prince George Begins First Day at Eton College
BBC News reports that Prince George has started his first day at Eton College, following in the footsteps of his father, the Prince of Wales, and other royal relatives.
A Family Tradition
The 13-year-old prince becomes a boarder at Eton, an elite private school with a rich history, having educated 20 British prime ministers and charging approximately £65,000 per year in fees. As the oldest child of Prince William and Catherine, George is second in line to the throne.
Choosing Eton
There had been speculation about Prince George’s school choice, but he opted for a traditional education, joining his father, uncle Prince Harry, and great uncle Earl Spencer at Eton. The school is conveniently located near his family home in Windsor.
Life as a Boarder
As a boarder, Prince George will live in one of Eton’s 25 boarding houses, each with around 55 pupils, under the care of a house master. The school’s guide describes Eton as having "spectacular facilities and spacious grounds," offering a modern education while preserving its ancient buildings.
