Punjab Approves Seven Road Packages Under Public-Private Partnership to Accelerate Development
The Punjab government has taken another significant step towards accelerating development by approving seven road packages under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) programme during its fifth meeting of the Punjab Public Private Authority on Sunday.
Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, chaired the meeting, which reviewed measures to improve infrastructure, public services, and institutional performance. Under the approved arrangements, successful private bidders will construct and rehabilitate provincial roads, manage operations for seven years, and share profits with the government.
The meeting also endorsed:
- An initiative for local production of Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccines through the PPP framework.
- Reviewing the transformation of livestock farms.
- Amendments to the bid evaluation mechanism aimed at enhancing transparency.
Marriyum Aurangzeb emphasized that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of developing sectors through private-sector collaboration would be a game-changer for the province, highlighting the importance of timely project completion without compromising quality.
Later, the senior minister visited the Punjab Financial Assistance Services (PFAS) department, praising the finance team and department heads for their outstanding performance.
