Rabia Naseem Farooqi Stresses Market-Oriented Skills and Technology Education

Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, Rabia Naseem Farooqi, has emphasized the necessity for universities to align their curricula with emerging fields, particularly information technology and artificial intelligence, to equip young individuals with market-oriented skills.

During a visit to the National Skills University (NSU), Islamabad, where Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Saud Altaf provided insights into the university’s academic programs, skills-based approach, and initiatives aimed at bolstering technical and professional education, she expressed her views.

Farooqi praised NSU’s efforts to promote skills-focused higher education and prepare students for contemporary professional and technological challenges. She stated that higher education plays a crucial role in fostering economic growth, digital transformation, and youth empowerment.

Citing the famous saying, "An investment in knowledge pays the best interest", she underscored the importance of viewing education as an honor rather than a burden. She emphasized the need to leverage education and technology to cultivate skills that meet the requirements of today’s workplace.

The parliamentary secretary advocated for universities to focus on emerging and future-oriented disciplines, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision of a knowledge-driven and globally competitive Pakistan.

Dr Saud Altaf apprised her of NSU’s endeavors to enhance technological competencies, strengthen industry-academia partnerships, and produce graduates equipped to meet industrial needs. The visit reinforced the Ministry’s and NSU’s commitment to advancing skills education, adopting emerging technologies, and enhancing youth employability.
