Rawal Dam Reaches 1,751.40 Feet; Spillways To Open at 6 Am on August 26
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – Aug 25, 2026) Following heavy monsoon rainfall in the Federal capital, the water level in Rawal Dam has risen to 1,751.40 feet, prompting authorities to open the dam’s spillways at 6:00 am on August 26.
The district administration has directed Rescue 1122, police and other relevant departments to remain on alert and urged residents to stay away from streams, nullahs and low-lying areas.
According to officials, the reservoir has reached a level of 1,751.40 feet, leading authorities to decide to release excess water through the spillways. The administration said the spillways will be opened on Wednesday morning at 6:00 am to regulate the water level and ensure the safe management of inflows into the reservoir.
Authorities have instructed Rescue 1122, Islamabad Police and other concerned agencies to remain fully prepared during the operation. Relevant departments have also been directed to take all necessary precautionary measures before the spillways are opened. Officials said coordination among emergency and civic agencies will continue to ensure public safety and monitor conditions in areas that may be affected by the release of water.
The district administration has appealed to residents to avoid visiting streams, nullahs and low-lying locations during the release process. Citizens have also been advised to follow official instructions and remain informed through announcements issued by the concerned authorities.
The administration reiterated that precautionary measures are being implemented to minimize risks and ensure public safety during the spillway operation scheduled for August 26.
