RCB VP pays rich tribute to martyrs of the 1965 war

RAWALPINDI, (APP - UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News - 7th Sep, 2026) Zahid Bakhtawari, Vice President of Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB), paid tribute to the martyrs of the September 6, 1965 war during a Defence Day ceremony in Rawalpindi.
He visited the mausoleum of Nishan-e-Haider recipient Lance Naik Muhammad Mahfuz Shaheed in his native village, Pind Malikan (Mahfuzabad), laying a wreath and offering Fateha. Lieutenant Colonel (Retd.) Naukhez Mahfooz, nephew of Lance Naik Muhammad Mahfuz Shaheed, welcomed Zahid Bakhtawari and guests.
Present were Additional Chief Warden Rawalpindi Uzair Zahid Bakhtawari, Chief Warden Civil Defence Islamabad Mehr Shahid Iqbal, Civil Defence Officer Rawalpindi Chaudhry Ghulam Mustafa, Divisional Chief Warden Rehan-ul-Haq, and other dignitaries.
Zahid Bakhtawari spoke highly of the sacrifices made by Pakistan’s martyrs and veterans:
"September 6 is an unforgettable day in Pakistan's history when our brave soldiers demonstrated exceptional courage for the defense of our motherland." He added that their sacrifices remain a source of inspiration for the nation, and that Pakistanis will always honor their brave sons.
He specifically honored Lance Naik Muhammad Mahfuz Shaheed, calling him a national hero and a source of pride for Pakistan.
He reaffirmed the nation's unity with the Pakistan Armed Forces for the security, sovereignty, and stability of the country.
Earlier, Zahid Bakhtawari presented honorary shields to Civil Defence staff for their service.
Participants offered Fateha and prayers for the martyrs, security, and prosperity of Pakistan.
