Regional Blood Centre Conducts Blood Donation Awareness Drive At Gomal University

Dera Ismail Khan, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 10th Sep, 2026) The Regional Blood Centre in Dera Ismail Khan has launched an intensified blood donation and awareness campaign with a visit to Gomal University. This initiative aims to promote voluntary blood donation among students.

On the instructions of Centre Manager Muhammad Rizwan Rajput, Health Education Officer Sajjad Ahmad Khan held meetings with several key figures at the university:

  • Dr Hadiya (Director Biological Sciences)
  • Dr Atta-ur-Rehman (Assistant Professor)
  • Dr Zia-ur-Rehman (Chief Proctor)
  • Dr Muzammil Ahmad Khan (Director ORIC)

The discussions focused on reviving the memorandum of understanding between the two institutions, organizing blood donation camps, and conducting awareness sessions for students. The university administration welcomed this proposal. The Centre expressed its hope to renew the memorandum with the Vice Chancellor in the near future.

The Regional Blood Centre, a government-run welfare facility, ensures that donated blood is screened for malaria, syphilis, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and HIV before it is supplied to patients who need it. They are urging students, traders, civil society groups, associations, and individuals from all backgrounds to participate in voluntary blood donation to support those suffering from thalassemia, cancer, and emergencies.
