Reigning Miss Austria Beauty Queen Lucia Sisic Dies Aged 22
BBC News reports that Lucia Sisic, the 2024 Miss Austria, has passed away unexpectedly at the age of 22. She had a lifelong heart condition, for which she underwent several surgeries.
Mission Austria, the organization behind the Miss Austria and Mister Austria pageants, expressed their shock and sorrow on Facebook:
"It is with great shock and deep sorrow that we have learned of the passing of our Miss Austria 2024, Lucia Sisic."
No official cause of death has been announced. Sisic remained the reigning titleholder as no subsequent contest has taken place.
Sisic, an open advocate for her health condition, had shared her experiences on social media, thanking her medical team for their care. She also spoke about the impact her condition had on her childhood, saying it "made me strong."
Herzkinder Österreich, a charity supporting Austrian children with heart conditions, paid tribute to Sisic, remembering her as a warm-hearted and courageous young woman.
