Reports Suggest PTI Facing Severe Funding Shortage for Long March

Parliamentarians are reportedly unwilling to contribute even Rs50,000 from their salaries, while the leadership has repeatedly appealed for funds, claims anchorperson Asadullah Khan.
According to Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s central leadership had set a substantial target of collecting Rs500 million to meet the expenses of the expected long march on September 27. They assigned clear financial responsibilities to all members of the National and provincial assemblies.
He stated that the leadership instructed all members of the provincial assemblies to collect Rs5.05 million each through their constituencies and resources. However, the situation is such that, far from contributing Rs5 million, lawmakers are not even willing to donate Rs50,000 from their monthly government salaries to the long march fund.
Khan noted that PTI’s central leadership had grown tired of repeatedly reminding and appealing to its members to provide funds for the protest. However, no member of the assembly or leader seemed to be paying heed. He stated that the issue has now become an extremely serious and complex situation within the party, with all hopes of financially securing the upcoming political contest and long march appearing to fade.
