Rising Electricity and Gas Prices Top Pakistani Public’s Concerns

More than 43 percent of the government budget is spent on debt, leaving no room to address public problems, a research institute survey says.

- Electricity and Gas Prices: 43% of Pakistanis consider rising electricity and gas prices their top concern. (19% seriously concerned)
- Daily Items Prices: 17% are worried about the increase in the cost of daily-use items.
- Unemployment: 16% cited unemployment as a major issue.
- Petroleum Product Prices: 10% expressed concern over rises in petroleum product prices.
- Healthcare Access: 7% lack access to healthcare facilities, according to the survey.
The Institute for Public Opinion Research (IPOR) highlights that approximately 43 percent of Pakistan’s government budget—a staggering 8 trillion rupees—is allocated to debt, hindering efforts to address public issues.
