Rodri Believes Manchester City Are Innocent of Financial Wrongdoing
BBC Sport reports that former Manchester City midfielder, Rodri, expresses his confidence in the club's innocence regarding financial wrongdoing allegations.
City have been found guilty by the Premier League of breaching 115 financial rules, but they plan to appeal. Rodri, who now plays for Barcelona, stated at a news conference:
"They always express the confidence that they never did something wrong and we believe in that... Until the moment they are proved wrong, we will believe the club."
He cites the club's previous acquittal by the Court of Arbitration for Sport in 2020 on separate financial fair play charges as a reason for his faith. City won eight trophies during the period under scrutiny, including three league titles and one FA Cup.
Rodri rejects any potential stripping of these titles as punishment:
"What we did, they cannot take out of us... I can tell you that everything was deserved."
Prime Minister Andy Burnham, meanwhile, encourages a thorough study of the independent commission's report before drawing conclusions about Manchester City.
