RPO Rawalpindi Calls for Improved Policing, Prompt Redressal Of Public Complaints
RAWALPINDI, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 25th Aug, 2026) Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi, Babar Sarfraz Alpa, has directed police officers to improve policing and ensure the prompt redressal of public complaints.
During visits to Police Stations R.A. Bazaar, Cantt and Ganjmandi, the RPO reviewed front desks, lock-ups, official records, case property and daily diaries and issued instructions to enhance public service and crime prevention.
Front Desks
At the front desks, Babar Sarfraz Alpa reviewed applications submitted by citizens, their referral to relevant officers and progress on the complaints. He emphasized that treating citizens with courtesy, dignity, and respect is a key responsibility of police officers and personnel. He directed officers to ensure timely action on complaints, stating that no application should remain pending without a valid reason.
Lock-ups and Records
The RPO also inspected lock-ups and police station records, directing officers to ensure compliance with all legal requirements concerning detainees. He ordered timely completion and regular checking of records, warning that negligence in the security and supervision of lock-ups would not be tolerated.
Investigations
Babar Sarfraz Alpa reviewed under-investigation cases and received briefings from investigating officers on progress. He directed that investigations be completed within stipulated timeframes, based on merit, and with transparency, utilizing modern scientific and forensic techniques. He warned of departmental action against officers responsible for poor investigations or unnecessary delays.
Action Against Criminals
The RPO also reviewed actions against criminal elements, drug dealers, proclaimed offenders, court absconders, and other lawbreakers within the jurisdictions of the three police stations. He directed police to intensify action against criminals and adopt effective strategies to arrest suspects involved in serious offenses.
He further ordered continued patrolling as well as search and combing operations to curb drug trafficking, illegal weapons, robbery, street crime, theft, and other offenses.
Priorities and Instructions
Babar Sarfraz Alpa stated that improving policing at police stations, providing timely justice to citizens, controlling crime, and improving police conduct are among his top priorities. He directed supervisory officers to strengthen monitoring of police stations, keep records updated, and ensure the prompt redressal of public complaints.
The RPO also instructed officers to make full use of available resources to combat crime and ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property.
