The government fully understands the burden imposed on the public by rising oil prices and will not leave people alone in this difficult time, stated Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 13th Sep, 2026)

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif launched a special petrol relief scheme after recognizing the increased burden on the public due to recent tensions in the middle East and rising oil prices in the international market.

The prime minister said the government recognizes the burden of rising oil prices on the public and will not abandon them during these challenging times. He introduced the special scheme to mitigate the impact of the fuel price hike on users of motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi, and small cars.

Under the scheme:

  • Users of motorcycles, rickshaws, Qingqi, and vehicles up to 800cc will receive a relief of Rs100 per litre on petrol.
  • Two- and three-wheeler owners, including motorcycle and rickshaw users, will get Rs100 per litre relief on 20 litres of petrol per month.
  • Small car owners up to 800cc will receive Rs100 per litre relief on 30 litres of petrol per month.

The scheme will be implemented in Islamabad between the coming Monday and Tuesday at night. It will then be rolled out across Pakistan, including Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, between Wednesday and Thursday.

Registration for the special relief scheme began today, with details of the procedure to be communicated through an awareness campaign. The prime minister thanked provinces for their cooperation in providing information about motorcycles, rickshaws, and small cars for scheme registration.
