Petroleum levy, carbon levy, customs duty, freight margin, company profits, and dealer margins are among the charges included in fuel prices, according to a private TV report.

ISLAMABAD, (UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 9th Sep, 2026) A rise in petroleum product prices in the international market and heavy taxes have increased the burden on the public, with taxes accounting for a significant share of petrol and diesel prices.

Figures cited in the report reveal that taxes of Rs134.60 are imposed on each litre of petrol, while the actual price of petrol is Rs229.75 per litre. The petrol price includes a petroleum levy of Rs80 per litre and a carbon levy of Rs5, along with customs duty of Rs21.15 and a premium of approximately Rs3. It also includes a freight margin of Rs7.60, company profit of Rs7.87, and dealer margin of Rs9.98 per litre.

The document states that diesel also includes taxes amounting to 31 percent per litre, with total taxes on diesel amounting to Rs118.55 per litre. The actual price of diesel is Rs267.40 per litre.

Diesel carries a petroleum levy of Rs80 per litre, a carbon levy of Rs5, customs duty of Rs15.68, and a premium of Rs1. In addition, the diesel price includes a freight margin of Rs4.02, oil company profit of Rs7.87, and dealer margin of Rs9.98 per litre.
