Sacha Baron Cohen, known for his iconic characters like Ali G and Borat, will star in a new play written and directed by Quentin Tarantino. Titled The Popinjay Cavalier, the production is set in 19th-century Europe and promises to be a "rambunctious comedy of deception and disguise."
"When the best director in the world calls, you don't ask questions." - Sacha Baron Cohen
Tarantino, renowned for his violent film classics Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, expressed his enthusiasm for bringing this play to the West End:
"I'm keen with anticipation to give the West End a great night out."
The play is scheduled to premiere on March 18, 2027, at the Phoenix Theatre, with tickets available from Monday. It will be co-produced by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Sonia Friedman Productions.
Tarantino previously revealed that the script for The Popinjay Cavalier is already complete, and he plans to retire from filmmaking after his 10th film. He has won two Oscars and directed nine feature films so far.
