SAOC Reviews Preparations for 14th South Asian Games 2027

Islamabad, Lahore, and Peshawar to Host the Event (August 23, 2026)

The Executive Committee of the South Asia Olympic Council (SAOC) met to review preparations for the upcoming 14th South Asian Games, scheduled for April 3-11, 2027. The meeting was chaired by Arif Saeed, President of SAOC and Pakistan Olympic Association.

Representatives from Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and India (participating virtually) were in attendance. The Games will be hosted across three cities: Islamabad, Lahore, and Peshawar, featuring 28 sports with 346 medal events, expected to attract approximately 3,200 athletes.

The committee discussed key aspects such as venue readiness, accommodation, transportation, and pre-launch activities. They also reviewed the progress made so far, with Pakistan well on its way to hosting a successful event.
