Sardar Yousuf Urges Ulema to Understand Youth Concerns with Love, Wisdom, Reason

Federal Minister for Religious Affairs, Sardar Muhammad Yousuf on Wednesday urged scholars and preachers to understand the questions and concerns of the youth and respond to them with love, wisdom, and reason. He made these remarks while addressing a Seerat Conference on the theme “Protection, Development, and Character Building of Youth in the Light of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)” organized by the Ministry of Religious Affairs at the Jinnah Convention Centre. Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif attended the conference as the chief guest.
The minister noted that Islamic teachings could guide youth towards moderation, love, hope, and unity. He highlighted the significance of Rabi-ul-Awwal, the month in which Allah Almighty sent Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a mercy for all humanity.
Sardar Muhammad Yousuf stated that while mobile phones and social media have become sources of knowledge, they also contribute to moral and intellectual confusion. He advised Ulema to help youth become responsible users of digital tools rather than distancing them from it.
Citing a Quranic verse encouraging thorough investigation of news, he emphasized the importance of verification in the age of social media. Another verse reminding Muslims to preach with wisdom and good character further underscored the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) as a model for all.
The minister recognized youth as Pakistan’s most valuable national asset and architects of the country’s future. However, he pointed out numerous challenges they face, including academic pressure, unemployment, mental distress, drug abuse, misinformation, extremism, and weakening family systems. He stressed that criticism alone is insufficient to address these issues; instead, the new generation needs hope, purpose, knowledge, training, and positive opportunities.
Sardar Yousuf highlighted the teachings of Seerat-e-Tayyaba, emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility, discipline, loyalty, sacrifice, and mutual trust in building a strong nation.
