Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport Targeted Again, Reports Say
BBC News reports that King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has been attacked again, just days after Yemen's Houthi rebels claimed successful strikes on the same hub.
The loud blast on Saturday sparked evacuations, with more than a dozen ambulances rushing to the scene, according to Reuters. Saudi authorities have remained silent, while the airport instructed passengers to contact their airlines before travelling.
This latest attack follows a series of strikes by the Houthis on Saudi airports, including:
- Three Saudi nationals, including a pilot, killed on October 7th.
- Three more people killed on October 6th and 7th.
The Houthis claim these attacks as retaliation for Saudi Arabia's involvement in Yemen's civil war.
The conflict has intensified after the Houthis seized key Red Sea ports, leading to a humanitarian crisis. A Saudi-led coalition formed in 2015 to counter the Houthis, but a temporary ceasefire brokered in 2022 has begun to unravel.
