Senate App Launch: A Step Towards Modernizing Parliament
Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhary stated that the launch of the Senate mobile application signifies a significant advancement in modernizing parliamentary operations and engagement with members and citizens.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Tariq emphasized that this initiative represents more than just adopting a new digital tool; it reflects a comprehensive commitment to transforming Parliament into an accessible, efficient, and responsive institution. He argued for modern systems to facilitate parliamentary work and ensure effective governance.
The minister highlighted the role of his ministry in strengthening connections between Parliament and the government, streamlining parliamentary business, and promoting transparency. Digital tools, he suggested, can enhance this relationship by enabling real-time engagement and improving accessibility to parliamentary reports.
Dr. Tariq further stressed the importance of making Parliament citizen-centric, proposing that communication should be in languages and mediums familiar to citizens. However, he cautioned that digital transformation must adhere to constitutional procedures and protect parliamentary independence and security.
He congratulated Acting President Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani for leading this important transformation and praised the Senate for embracing innovation. The launch, he said, signifies not just an app but a step towards a more efficient and citizen-responsive Parliament. Dr. Tariq expressed hope that this initiative will initiate a broader journey of modernization.
