Senate Body Directs Speedy Resolution of PHA-F, FGEHA Housing Projects
ISLAMABAD, (APP – UrduPoint / Pakistan Point News – 25th Aug, 2026) The Senate Standing Committee on Housing and Works met on Tuesday at Parliament House, chaired by Senator Nasir Mehmood, to review implementation reports and progress on long-standing housing projects managed by:
- Pakistan Housing Authority Foundation (PHA-F)
- Federal Government Employees Housing Authority (FGEHA).
PHA-F Officers Residencia Kurri Road Project
The committee was briefed on steps taken to address long-pending issues related to infrastructure and civic amenities in the Officers Residencia Kurri Road project. Progress is being made to resolve concerns regarding:
- Water supply
- Stormwater drainage
- Street lighting
- Essential community facilities
Capital Development Authority (CDA) Member Planning, M. Umair, assured the committee that the access road issue would be prioritized. The committee directed the CDA to complete construction within three months and report back.
FGEHA Schemes: Green Enclave-I and Sky Gardens
The committee examined updates on inquiries and litigation regarding Green Enclave-I and Sky Gardens (formerly Green Enclave-II) schemes.
- National Accountability Bureau (NAB) representatives informed the committee that inquiries have been ongoing since 2018, adhering to legal frameworks and judicial directives. They confirmed NOCs were processed after completing inquiries into cleared mozas.
- FGEHA Director General clarified that Shamlaat lands cannot be transferred to private individuals and provided details on development permissions granted in Moza Kathar and Moza Mangal.
Senate Officer’s Housing Issue
Senator Saifiullah Abro raised the case of a Grade-20 Senate officer denied possession of an allotted house for an extended period. The committee ordered:
- Ministry of Housing & Works and the Estate Office to vacate and hand over the designated official residence within 24 hours.
- A comprehensive compliance report on this matter.
The standing committee emphasized the need for transparency, merit, and adherence to the rule of law in official accommodation allotments.
General Public Matter
The committee also discussed a general public issue raised as a separate agenda item. Chairman directed Secretary Housing to resolve it by January 2027. The Secretary assured the committee of swift action.
The committee appreciated the secretary housing’s efforts in expediting public welfare projects.
